Four Foods on Friday #49

Here’s this week’s questions for Val’s FFoF meme. Still some time if you’d like to participate!
#1. Turnips. Love em or leave em?
To be honest, never tried ‘em. Can anyone tell me what they taste like? Not something I’m likely to run out and get.
#2. What’s your favorite roasted dish?
Roasted garlic. Nothing like that buttery flavor spread on toasted sourdough bread.
#3. Salsa. What kind fo you like?
HOT! The hotter the better. Like maybe a slight numbness in the lips and runny nose are always a good sign of a good salsa for me.
#4. Share directions on how to make your favorite quick meal, meaning start to finish in about 30 minutes or less.
Steak and a side. Heat up a skillet with some oil, coat a sirloin steak with a rub made of coarse black pepper and Old Bay seasoning and sear for 2 minutes on each side. Put it in a 400 degree oven for 13 minutes and let rest for 2 minutes and you have the most perfect, juicy, gourmet tasting steak at a fraction of the cost. Make your favorite side to go with it like rice pilaf which takes about 20 minutes.

Great timing, I’m going to do some steaks tomorrow and needed to reconfirm how they’re done, thanks. Haven’t done one in ages
!
You know, I have never in my life made steak in the oven. I can see where searing it and then roasting in the oven would have some advantages over the grill. Bet it stays juicy!
I live in Maryland, so I’ve grown up with Old Bay, but I never would’ve thought of rubbing a steak with it! That’s something I definitely need to try.
That sounds like a great way to cook steaks. I have Old Bay, so I’ll have to fix them that way next time.
Thanks for playing FFOF!

I’m going to try making steak this way. Sounds great!
