After asking for time to heal upon being hospitalized for an alleged suicide attempt, Owen Wilson has dropped out of the film Tropic Thunder. Wilson was scheduled to come to Kauai in the coming weeks to shoot his role for the movie but given the circumstances, that will not happen now. According to Variety magazine, Wilson and his longtime friend Ben Stiller decided it would be best for him to ‘sit this one out.’ Wilson is still in the hospital and listed in good condition.

I ran across this article in the Honolulu Star Bulletin about the filming on Kauai of the new Ben Stiller comedy, “Tropic Thunder.”
One can only speculate as to whether Owen Wilson’s recent stint in the hospital will delay the filming of the movie. The rag mags have been reporting Wilson attempted suicide but no statement from the actor’s camp has been released regarding the official cause for the hospitalization. Wilson did issue a brief statement saying “I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.”
Regardless of the reason for his injuries, True Aloha would like extend its’ best wishes to Owen for a speedy recovery.

Indiana Jones at the KHOP?

Okay so Indiana Jones hasn’t been spotted eating a stack of mac nut pancakes with coconut syrup at Ken’s House of Pancakes but it could happen. Harrison Ford and the cast of the fourth and final Indiana Jones movie series are filming in Hilo and parts of Kea’au. One of the producers said they considered 14 other countries before deciding to film in Hilo after seeing the unique charm the city has. It is also bringing lots of work to about 125 locals and many of the crew are staying in town at the Hilo Hawaiian and Naniloa but the big stars are hiding out in more secluded digs for their stay on the Big Island. In case you’re wondering, Ford, 65, is doing some of his own stunts and yes, he still fits into his Indy pants after all these years.
So if you’re in Hilo you may be able to do a little star gazing of a different kind.
