The MACC presents…”The Wonder of the Arts” 2009-2010 Performing & Visual Arts Season with a brand new selection of shows, festivals and exhibits scheduled August 2009 through June 2010.

Biggest Loser team coming to Oahu

Kristin and Cathy otherwise known as the purple team on last season’s Biggest Loser tv show will be on Oahu September 24th - 27th for three fitness events.  You can sign up for one or all of them if you like.  The first event will be a presentation where they will describe their experiences losing weight.  The second is a hike to Manoa Falls.  The third is going to the gym (Crossfit Oahu) where they will put you through a similar day at the ranch workout.  Space is limited so sign up today!

Dog the Bounty Hunter crew autograph signing tomorrow

Duane “Dog” Chapman and his crew will be holding an autograph signing session and posing for pictures tomorrow December 3rd at Da Dog House which is located at 1381 Queen Emma Street right beside Da Kine Bail Bonds.  There is only off street parking available so expect lines or be willing to hoof it to the location.  So if you live on or are visiting Oahu, if you’re a fan you can put this on your to do list. 

HIHS Pet Walk & Costume Parade this weekend!

Gotta cute little four legged cutie that deserves to be shown off in their Halloween finest?  Sign up for the Hawaii Island Humane Society’s Pet Walk & Costume Parade!  There will be a costume contest, agility course, hot dog eating contest, best pet trick, a photographer and more!  Available for purchase will be the 2009 HIHS “Pets in Paradise” calendars, HIHS holiday cards, pet gifts as well as snacks and refreshments.  Visitors this is a good chance to add some cute pics to your vacation photos!

Rally to help save Koloa’s monkeypod trees

About 16 of Koloa’s historic monkeypod trees that have been standing for 80 years are about to be cut down to accomodate a retail center.  If you live on or are going to be visiting Kauai this Saturday, please attend the rally to show your support to save these gentle giants!  If you cannot attend, contact info is listed below.

Halloween in Lahaina
The Legend of Halloween, celebrated since 1990, is more than just a night on the town in costume! Over 20,000 revelers come to Front Street on Halloween night, which is closed to vehicle traffic from 3:30 to 11:30pm. Annual children’s costume parade down Front Street at 4:30 kicks-off the evening. Other features include Halloween-themed crafts and activities, and food & beverage booths under the Banyan Tree which raise funds for nonprofits. Live music is performed on two stages while revelers dance in the street. LahainaTown presents the Maui Tacos Halloween Costume Contest in Banyan Tree Park, beginning at 7pm. Restaurants and shopping centers offer costume contests throughout the evening. Free admission.
